As one of the cloud storage components
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on December 5, 2008 at 3:24 pmNirvanix announced that its Storage Delivery Network (SDN) has been integrated into Ooyala’s Backlot video management platform as one of the cloud storage components of the company’s cost-effective syndication and monetization solution for high-quality video.
Backlot is a scalable video platform with detailed analytics, content syndication controls and advanced monetization features. Coupled with content delivery networks (CDNs) for delivery redundancy, the Nirvanix SDN enables Ooyala customers to store and manage HD-quality video. Video delivery from Backlot can dynamically adjust to the maximum quality of media that the end-user can support, so bandwidth can be conserved for a cost-effective solution and improved efficiencies of content delivery while increasing overall throughput, quality and user experience.
“Through a partnership with Nirvanix, we are rounding out our media and entertainment ecosystem, providing a powerful solution for companies with large storage needs,” said Eric Morris, VP of Channels and Business Development. “The feature rich Backlot video solution empowers our customers to create profitable businesses from their video. Integration of the Nirvanix Storage Delivery Network gives our customers yet another cost effective choice for storing large files that reduces their expenses ultimately increasing their return.”
“Our rich API and fully redundant storage infrastructure are major reasons why technology companies such as Ooyala are partnering with Nirvanix. Our passion is to empower media companies to get more value from their content and a partnership with Ooyala is an extension of our commitment to help drive more content online affordably,” said Geoff Tudor, VP of Product Strategy and Business Development. “Nirvanix’s global storage network is tightly integrated with major CDNs and, in doing so, we enable the quality user experience the industry needs while providing greater profit margins for our media partners.”
The Nirvanix SDN provides companies with an alternative to building origin storage systems. With Nirvanix, customers experience 80-90 percent savings over building their own storage operations, eliminating the need for large capital expenditures on expensive storage hardware that is often only utilized to 50 percent of capacity. Customers also benefit from better flexibility and control over their operation guaranteeing greater insight into storage utilization and a shorter time to market.
