This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on November 24, 2008 at 3:50 pmIsilon Systems reported strong market adoption of Isilon’s products in the Asia Pacific region since launching operations in October 2007. Petro China, INX Network, China National Offshore Oil Company, Deakin University, SBS of Australia, Astro, and the Chinese Administration of Radio, Film and Television are among more than 75 Asia Pacific customers who have deployed Isilon’s clustered storage solutions.
Bolstering the company’s channel sales and distribution operations in Asia Pacific, Isilon today announced that Beijing Cluster Consolidation, Beijing Yue Xin Times, Blueprint Global Services, Digistar, Jay Kushal Exports, and Storm FX Distributions are among leading companies who have joined Isilon’s growing channel partner ecosystem.
Isilon also today announced that Michael Burnie has been appointed Vice President and General Manager of the company’s Asia Pacific operations. Mr. Burnie joined the company in September 2007, and has played an instrumental role in establishing Isilon’s presence and growth in the region. Prior to joining Isilon, Mr. Burnie worked for NetApp and EMC and is credited with helping establish and build Asia Pacific operations for both companies.
"The expanding base of customers spanning across Asia Pacific reflects the rising demand for scale-out, file-based storage solutions to meet the requirements of the next-generation data center," said Michael Burnie, Vice President and General Manager, Asia Pacific, Isilon Systems. "In just over a year, we have built a thriving channel partner ecosystem that, in combination with our own direct sales efforts, has enabled us to acquire new enterprise customers in Asia Pacific at an increasing rate."
"At Deakin University, we have 50 lecture theaters in use for an average of seven hours a day, all recording simultaneously. This structure creates enormous amounts of file-based data, which our previous, traditional storage system was simply incapable of managing effectively," said Craig Warren, Operational Service Provision Manager, IT Services, Deakin University. "With Isilon, we’re well ahead of the game. We now have a high-performance storage solution able to provide our users with exactly the data access and reliability necessary to advance the educational opportunities available at Deakin."
"INX Network’s rapidly expanding operations include multiple channels focused on providing our millions of viewers with the highest quality of programming," said Mark Bayley, Executive Vice President of Technology, INX Network. "However, these operations create tremendous amounts of digital content, necessitating a storage solution with the performance, scalability and ease of use required to accelerate content creation, management and delivery. By using Isilon IQ, we have unified our operations onto a centralized storage repository, increasing workflow productivity while significantly reducing IT cost and complexity."
