New EMC Solutions for Oracle

To virtualize and automate data movement across all tiers of the Oracle information stack

Customers of all sizes are looking to information infrastructure to help them cost effectively and efficiently store, manage, and protect data across their Oracle application, middleware and databases environments. EMC Corporation, the world leader in information infrastructure solutions, today announced two new Proven Solutions and new capabilities to two existing Proven Solutions, all designed to help customers deploy a singular approach to virtualize and automate data movement across all tiers of the Oracle information stack.

"In today’s economy, it is imperative that customers are able to do more with less, and derive even greater value and efficiencies from their Oracle software and information infrastructure investments," said Michael Fauscette, Group Vice President, Software Business Solutions at IDC. "With a focus on understanding both the application and information infrastructure, EMC’s approach to proven solutions and best practices helps customers successfully solve the challenge of managing, leveraging and protecting data across the Oracle environment."

EMC has expanded its portfolio of Proven Solutions to provide even more integration across the Oracle stack for unified storage, operational management, backup, recovery and archive, replication and disaster recovery and Virtualization.

  • Virtualized Oracle Application Infrastructure — This new solution helps decouple Oracle Applications from hardware infrastructure enabling non-disruptive data mobility during infrastructure refreshes or migrations within tier 2 environments such as test and development. In addition, customers can benefit from continuous data protection (CDP) replicating data between EMC and non-EMC storage infrastructure.
  • Proven Enterprise Class Oracle Data Warehouse Environments — The EMC scalable architecture for Oracle Data Warehouse provides a new solution to support the design and deployment of a single, consolidated storage platform, leveraging EMC Symmetrix® for maximized performance, availability and scalability of enterprise Oracle Data Warehouses. Based on testing with Oracle through the Optimized Warehouse Initiative, EMC and Oracle are providing tested best practices to rapidly deploy data warehouse environments.
  • Expanded Automated Replication for Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 — The EMC Replication for Oracle E-business suite enables multiple users, including storage administrators and DBAs, to quickly create new Oracle Application environments to respond to business requirements, support application maintenance, and accelerate upgrades and new implementations of Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.
  • Expanded Enterprise Class Performance, Flexibility and Availability for Oracle Midsize Enterprises — Now EMC help customers achieve cost efficiency and increase their ROI with the following:
  • Backup solutions that leverage Oracle RMAN for virtualized Oracle 10g and 11g database environments deployed on VMware Virtualized Infrastructure
  • Expanded protection and failover capabilities leveraging EMC SnapView and EMC MirrorView for virtualized Oracle 10g and 11g database environments
  • New protection capabilities for EMC Celerra NS ‘F’ series based on Celerra SnapSure writeable checkpoints

"EMC is focused on helping our customers get the most from their EMC and Oracle investments by providing cost effective solutions that address their challenges in an accelerated manner," said Todd Pavone, EMC’s Vice President of Global Solutions. "Our deep expertise in Oracle, investments in testing and discovery, and deep technical documentation enables EMC, as well as our partners and customers, to understand what works well in Oracle environments. This results in EMC being able to help customers achieve greater operational efficiencies, lower cost and help support critical revenue objectives."
