Twentieth Century Fox Studios Again Turned to Archion

Archion Technologies, provider of intelligent storage solutions for content creation, announced that Twentieth Century Fox Studios has once again turned to the company’s Synergy HDu storage solution, this time for their feature film ‘Tooth Fairy.’ The studio first reached out to Archion during the production of ‘The Day the Earth Stood Still’ and has utilized Archion’s Synergy HDu storage technology for several new films. Archion is the only digital media storage company that seamlessly performs with Avid Unity.

"We are currently using Archion’s Synergy HDu storage systems for our new film ‘Tooth Fairy.’ Utilizing two 4TB units running a RAID 5 configuration, we’re able to support multiple clients cutting DNxHD36", said Kory Voxen, Director, Digital Editing Operations, Twentieth Century Fox Studios. "We also enjoy the expandability of the product, having added as much as 28TB of Synergy HDu to a single Avid Unity. This is our fifth feature film using Archion. Their products have really stood the test of multi-client, multi-stream HD editing."

Dwayne Johnson is ‘The Tooth Fairy,’ also known as Derek Thompson, a hard-charging minor league hockey player whose nickname comes from his habit of separating opposing players from their bicuspids. When Derek discourages a youngster’s hopes, he’s sentenced to one week’s hard labor as a ‘real’ tooth fairy, complete with the requisite wings and magic wand. At first, Derek ‘can’t handle the tooth’—bumbling and stumbling as he tried to furtively wing his way through strangers’ homes…doing what tooth fairies do.
