Reporting to European MD Tony Perng
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on October 29, 2008 at 3:10 pmInfortrend Corporation announced the appointment of Jon Ashley to the position of Director of Marketing Communications for EMEA. Ashley’s responsibilities in his new post will include overseeing all aspects of marketing within the region, exploring and cultivating new business opportunities and further developing the partner programme. Reporting in to Tony Perng, Managing Director, Ashley brings to this role many years of experience as a vendor and as a Value-Added Reseller (VAR) in the storage sector.
Jon Ashley commented on his new role: "Infortrend offers the market the broadest and most reliable range of RAID solutions at extremely competitive prices. Clients are, quite rightly, demanding more value from their storage investments in these difficult times, and I am looking forward to taking Infortrend’s positive message out to the market."
Ashley acknowledges the impact of the economic climate on the storage industry. He maintains that the demand for storage will remain, whilst allowing that price and value will play an increasingly important role. He continues: "My primary goal is to position Infortrend as the RAID storage manufacturer of choice in EMEA. We aim to do this through our communications strategy, but also with the support of our distributors and resellers". He goes on: "In addition, I want to focus on streamlining internal productivity to create efficiency gains, and on enhancing our partner programme, which offers a number of worthwhile incentives for our partners."
Prior to this appointment, Ashley spent eight years at Redstor as Marketing Manager. Here, he was involved in developing the company’s net business and in creating a new managed services portfolio, including an online backup service for schools. He also used technology to improve productivity and communications internally. Having joined Redstor in 2001, just as the IT industry was experiencing the after effects of the dotcom boom, Jon has already weathered a downturn and believes he can bring the important lessons learned during that time to his new position.
"Coming from a VAR, Jon has a detailed understanding of the pressures facing small to medium-sized businesses in this challenging economic climate", says Tony Perng, Infortrend Europe’s Managing Director. "We will be drawing upon his clear insight into this sector, as well as his experience of producing productivity gains in order to raise our profile and develop business opportunities across the EMEA region".
Jon Ashley is a keen Portsmouth FC fan.
