Reducing administrative burden
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on October 21, 2008 at 3:42 pmBocada, Inc., the pioneer and leading provider of data protection reporting and analysis solutions, announced general availability of the Bocada Centralized Manager 2.5 for Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager 2007 (DPM 2007). Bocada Centralized Manager 2.5 is an agentless, web based centralized management console that addresses the key management needs of operations teams and management alike. Bocada CM for DPM 2007 addresses management gaps and enhances the overall usability of DPM 2007 in medium to large scale deployments.
Bocada Centralized Manager helps reduce complexity and ensure data recoverability by providing secure, role based centralized management, control and monitoring on all DPM 2007 data protection activities. Bocada CM enhances System Center Operations Management functionality, providing detailed monitoring and full configuration control from a single console. Customers utilizing Bocada CM have reduced administrative costs and accelerated implementation and rollout plans.
“Customers deploying DPM 2007 in large scale environments are seeking management tools such as Bocada CM to optimize the performance of their backup environments and control operating costs,” said Bala Kasiviswanathan, Director, Storage Solutions Marketing at Microsoft. “This latest release from Bocada integrates into the Microsoft infrastructure and compliments DPM 2007 by providing the advanced management and reporting capabilities that enterprise customers are asking for.”
The latest version enhances administrators’ ability to manage DPM 2007 protection groups, adds role based permissions integrated with Active Directory and provides full monitoring and control over all DPM 2007 servers. Bocada Centralized Manager is the only centralized management solution that allows for real time creation and modification of protection groups, disk pools and retention settings.
“We are excited about this release as it provides full configuration management of DPM servers from a central console. In the past users would need to set up protection groups via the DPM interface before being able to take advantage of the Bocada Centralized Manager,” said Syam Kumar, Sr. Director of Product Management and Development at Bocada. “This functionality is critical for customers with DPM servers in remote locations where no administrative personnel are located. Bocada CM 2.5 will help customers greatly reduce rollout times and streamline administrative tasks.”
Bocada Centralized Manager v2.5 enables:
- Ability to add and delete protection groups on any DPM server
- Role based access for administrators, business line owners and end users
- Monitoring and modifying data protection group configurations (polices)
- Monitoring and modifying short and long term retention goals (disk or tape)
- Tracking of all data protection activity, progress and results across multiple DPM servers
- Ability to restart failed jobs on any managed server from the centralized console
Bocada Centralized Manager 2.5 will be generally available the end of October, 2008.
