QLogic FCoE Adapter Qualified by EMC

For the use of the Connectrix NEX-5020 switch

QLogic Corp. announced that QLogic 8000 Series converged network adapters (CNAs) for Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) networks are now qualified by EMC as E-Lab Tested for use with the new EMC Connectrix NEX-5020, EMC’s first Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) switch.

QLogic CNAs are qualified in SAN environments using the Connectrix NEX-5020 with EMC CLARiiON, EMC Celerra and EMC Symmetrix Fibre Channel networked storage systems, preserving customer investments in their existing Fibre Channel infrastructure. With E-Lab qualification, customers can use QLogic CNAs, which interoperate seamlessly with EMC FCoE switches and Fibre Channel storage systems, to consolidate storage and data networks into a single platform. The highly comprehensive EMC E-Lab qualification process tests configurations that replicate real-world environments to help ensure customer satisfaction.

In addition, EMC now offers QLogic 8000 Series FCoE adapters as part of its EMC Select Program. EMC Select is designed to make it easier for customers to acquire best-in-class infrastructure products to complete their EMC storage solutions and to help enable businesses to implement information infrastructure solutions.

"The FCoE market continues to develop rapidly as evidenced by the general availability of EMC’s first FCoE switch, based on Cisco technology," said Amit Vashi, vice president, QLogic Host Solutions Group. "QLogic FCoE adapters, the first available in the industry, have been rigorously qualified as E-Lab Tested with EMC Connectrix NEX-5020 switches, and interoperate seamlessly with EMC Fibre Channel storage systems, empowering customers with the ability to start consolidating their storage and data networks today."

"EMC and QLogic are helping to lead the evolution of consolidated networking by delivering E-Lab tested infrastructure for FCoE-based networks," said Barbara Robidoux, EMC vice president, Storage Product Marketing. "FCoE technology helps protect our customers’ existing data center assets while providing the ability to run storage and data networks on one easy-to-use, high performance platform."

Fibre Channel over Ethernet — Unifying Data and Storage Networks
FCoE, the emerging standard for transporting Fibre Channel frames over Ethernet, is designed to make converged networks possible for data centers. With converged networks now on the way to becoming a reality, servers will no longer require separate interfaces for data and storage networking. IT professionals can increase functionality while reducing cost and complexity by using a single set of cables and switches.

QLogic 8000 Series FCoE Converged Network Adapters — Make Your Network Fly
The QLogic 8000 Series is a family of converged network adapters designed to unify data center networks. With 10GbE performance, QLogic 8000 Series CNAs are optimized for both data and storage networking in large-scale enterprises using powerful, multi-processor, multi-core servers. QLogic 8000 Series CNAs consolidate data and storage networking onto a single adapter to reduce cabling, power and cooling, which lowers total cost of ownership (TCO). QLogic has the largest installed base of Fibre Channel HBAs in the world and QLogic 8000 Series CNAs leverage that proven driver architecture. That’s why QLogic 8000 Series CNAs plug-and-play with existing Fibre Chanel SANs and fully protect customers’ investments.
