The alliance is an outgrowth of Consonus’ new channel partner strategy to make its sizeable investment in data centers and its high service levels available to the technology channel for the first time. Under the alliance, CTI and Goldleaf are providing the service to financial institutions to help them improve operational efficiency, increase profitability and satisfy regulatory requirements. The combined expertise of the two companies enables customers to access current, best-of-class technology without the substantial capital expense.
CTI’s Remote Backup Service is a unique alternative to traditional backup methods, replacing conventional solutions with a fully automated online solution. RBS provides automated backups of heterogeneous file servers as well as application and database servers with encrypted, secure offsite storage and rapid online restoration. The RBS offering includes 24×7 monitoring of customers’ backup environments provided in a Consonus SAS 70-compliant network operations center.
Consonus CEO Mike Shook says: “Traditional backup solutions can be difficult and costly to operate. With RBS, customers receive an efficient way to recover mission-critical data on demand through a enterprise-class solution without the added headcount and capital investment.”
According to the June 2008 Information Technology Report from McKinsey, current data storage growth rates of 50 percent per year are driving current backup systems to the breaking point. The backup failure rates associated with conventional backup solutions such as tape have left many companies unable to restore crucial data at a time when increasingly stringent regulations have made data protection and recoverability a critical business decision.
“RBS gives customers fast, easy restores in the event of data loss, along with the confidence that their data is properly protected and restorable,” adds Shook.
Lynn Boggs, CEO of Goldleaf, sees RBS as an essential tool for its customers: “RBS allows customers to restore data on demand—a critical objective for financial services providers working under ever-increasing regulatory requirements around data availability and compliance,” says Boggs. “This enables institutions to focus their resources on strategic initiatives, leading to a competitive edge in the marketplace.”
A Strategic Alliance
Having enjoyed a 10-year business relationship with Atlanta-based Goldleaf, CTI recognized an opportunity to partner with them to respond to the demand in the financial services sector for a solution for data recovery and reliability with delivery flexibility for the customer.
“We’re growing our partner base carefully by screening for partners like Goldleaf with very high customer satisfaction ratings and unique vertical or technical market expertise,” says Shook.
