All-in-One Site for Managing, Storing and Selectively Sharing Consumers’ Digital Content

Based in Washington, DC with offices in Delray Beach, FL, Kadoo, Inc. announced the launch of its all-in-one site for consumers to manage their digital content. Kadoo enables users to manage, store and selectively share all of their digital content from just one place. The company is introducing its service at the DEMOfall 08 conference, one of the premier venues for launching new companies and services.

“It’s hard to juggle videos, photos, email, bookmarks, tags, contacts and the mass of other digital content across a bunch of different sites,” said Christopher Etesse, CEO of Kadoo. “Kadoo makes it easy to manage and store that content in just one place. And it makes it easy to selectively share that content with just the people you intend to see it, and absolutely no one else.”

Single interface to manage content; 10 GB of free storage
Kadoo provides users a single interface to manage Web applications such as email and contacts and also for social networking functions such as tagging and sharing; and provides 10 GB of storage for digital content such as photos, files and videos. All of a Kadoo user’s digital content is instantly accessible, instantly sharable and instantly available to each of Kadoo’s other applications.

Having all of a user’s content in one place makes it easier to share that content, a core value of social media. Kadoo enables users to share broadly if they want, and also to share selectively, with just the family or friends they want.

Users in control with selective sharing
“Selective sharing is at the very heart of Kadoo,” said Etesse. “Kadoo users are in control of who sees what, so they can selectively share some content with family, other content with friends and still other content with colleagues.”

Kadoo’s selective sharing controls extend beyond content to also include site experience, look and feel. For instance, a user’s business contacts may see a business-oriented profile on Kadoo; family members may see a very different profile. In all cases the Kadoo user is in control of who sees what.

Kadoo content can be shared with other Kadoo members, with people outside the community and even members of Facebook, the Blackboard educational community and other networks. “It’s one thing to share a video with the entire planet on YouTube,” said Etesse. “It’s quite another to share private photos with just family or close friends. By sharing selectively, I can also share more deeply, and the people I share with are more deeply engaged as a result. It’s the difference between mass media, and personal media. Kadoo makes it possible for consumers to make the choice.”

Technology optimized for sharing
The Kadoo technology platform is optimized to manage large volumes of content with no degradation of the user experience and no latency. For instance its Share Mail application, a type of email integrated across Kadoo, enables the easy sharing of large files typically too large to send as email attachments.

“There is a trend toward providing social media users greater convenience, utility and control,” said Chris Shipley, executive producer of the DEMOfall 08 conference. “Kadoo is at the leading edge of this movement and has the potential to change the way consumers think about their online persona.”

Launching to more than 20 million students
Kadoo founder and CTO, Daniel Cane, is also the co-founder of the Blackboard technology platform currently in use on more than 3000 school campuses across 70 countries. CEO Etesse is a former senior executive of Blackboard. Kadoo integrates into Blackboard; many students will see it as a tab on the same Web page they visit each day to check on homework assignments and receive notes from instructors.

Kadoo will be available to the more than 20 million global users of Blackboard beginning with the fall ’08 semester.
