Lifeboat to Recruit Resellers for Carbonite
In North America
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on July 18, 2008 at 3:41 pmCarbonite, Inc. announced a partnership agreement with Lifeboat Distribution, a subsidiary of Wayside Technology Group, Inc. The agreement will enhance distribution coverage within North America.
Carbonite will have access to Lifeboat’s North American network of more than 4,500 resellers, value-added resellers, consultants and systems integrators. Among the partners expected to resell the Carbonite solution are Wayside’s separate subsidiaries — Programmer’s Paradise and TechXtend — that sell software and hardware solutions to U.S. and Canadian corporations, universities and government organizations.
"Lifeboat is off to great start with Carbonite," said David Friend, founder and CEO of Carbonite. "They’ve already cut a significant deal with Colgate University, and their distribution channels reach a large number of businesses and organizations that are looking for a simple and inexpensive way to protect their valuable data."
"Carbonite’s online backup service addresses a critical business issue that often goes unaddressed by small and medium businesses," said Dan Jamieson, VP and General Manager of Lifeboat Distribution. "The simplicity and value proposition of Carbonite makes it a prime portfolio addition for our network of resellers and solution providers, as they help their end-user customers secure their information assets and provide for assurance of business continuity."
Through its relationships with solution providers, resellers and integrators across the U.S. and Canada, Lifeboat Distribution will help Carbonite recruit, train, certify, and support a third-party North American channel for the Company’s service offering.
Carbonite installs with just a few clicks and runs quietly in the background, continually backing up all data files. It is completely automatic — once installed, Carbonite finds all new and changed files and continues to back them up whenever the PC is connected to the Internet. Storage capacity is unlimited — users never outgrow their Carbonite subscription no matter how much data they have. Carbonite never interferes with the speed of the user’s PC or Internet browsing. Data is encrypted before leaving the local computer and is transmitted to Carbonite’s secure data center using HTTPS (SSL) for total privacy.
