Fujitsu-Siemens CentricStor FS Comes from Exanet
There was rumors on potential acquisition.
By Jean Jacques Maleval | June 20, 2008 at 3:50 pmNobody really mentioned that the new CentricStor FS from Fujitsu-Siemens is the result of an agreement between the German company and Exanet, the famous clustered file storage company from Israel.
In fact CentricStor FS is just ExaStore and in return, Exanet is pushed to propose Fujitsu-Siemens platform. After some rumors on potential acquisition of Exanet by the European firm, it seems that the first step is a close collaboration to feed and sustain the market demand.
Remember that, on this segment, Spinnaker Networks was acquired by NetApp in 2003 for $300 million, PolyServe was swallowed by HP in March 2007, Crosswalk disappeared, Terrascale was absorbed by Rackable Systems but Ibrix, Isilon, BlueArc, ONStor or even Panasas are still independent. Let’s watch what will happen before the end of 2008…
