ROBOBAK Software for Backup and Recovery of SMB Multiple Locations
With dedup at the source, starting at $1,000
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on June 14, 2008 at 2:34 pmSmall and mid-sized businesses (SMBs) with multiple locations today gained a powerful ally in their efforts to protect the data that keeps them in business, with the introduction of a software suite that helps centralize backup and recovery efforts at a fraction of the cost of competing products. ROBOBAK announced the availability of its Version 8 Data Protection Platform in the streamlined Standard Edition, beginning at a suggested retail price of $1,000.
“We listened to a number of customers and prospects who asked us for a product that would meet both their immediate and long-term data protection needs, as well as their budget requirements,” said Ron Roberts, ROBOBAK’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “ROBOBAK Standard Edition delivers both. It helps companies solve their here-and-now data protection challenges, at a price that makes sense, with a focus on their specific requirements, and a clear roadmap for tomorrow.”
ROBOBAK’s Standard Edition delivers many of the powerful features contained in ROBOBAK’s Enterprise edition of Version 8, including support for today’s most popular databases such as Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Exchange (2000 through 2007), Oracle, DB2, MySQL and more. It also incorporates ROBOBAK innovations designed to streamline the protection of information on Windows-based servers at remote and branch locations such as Agentless CDP, which enables ‘real-world’ continuous data protection and data deduplication at the source, which dramatically reduces both the amount of storage required, and the time needed to accomplish a backup or restoration.
More importantly, the Standard Version is specifically designed to meet SMBs’ data protection requirements; unlike high-priced software offerings from firms like IBM, Symantec, EMC, Avamar, eVault and Asigra, ROBOBAK Version 8 Standard Edition was developed with the needs of SMBs in mind. The paradigm has changed: companies can now afford to protect as little as one or more SQL Server database, Exchange server or other servers at a remote location.
“ROBOBAK is aggressively going after smaller customers with a great ‘online backup’ story,” said Eric Burgener, senior analyst, The Taneja Group. “What is unique about this announcement is that they are providing a fully featured, not a light version, of their product at a price point that makes this a very viable option for any business that needs to back up at least 100GB of data.”
Like its parent version, ROBOBAK Standard Edition is a robust software suite, specifically designed to allow companies to protect data from multiple locations, whether across town or around the world. And, like ROBOBAK’s Enterprise software, the Standard Edition is configured to install simply, without the need to install additional software on every computer at a given location. This agentless approach is key for IT administrators at SMBs, who need a dependable, affordable remote backup solution which does not require them to install additional software on each machine they manage, and which lowers the time needed to manage tasks associated with data protection.
“ROBOBAK Standard Edition opens a wealth of opportunities for us,” said Tony Merendino, the president of ServIT, Inc., a ROBOBAK channel partner based in Kennesaw, Georgia. “Smaller companies that previously did without a centralized backup strategy across multiple locations can now take advantage of ROBOBAK’s approach. It’s powerful, easy to install, and cost effective, making it an intelligent decision.”
