InnoDisk SATA SSD Only 20.5mm (L), 39mm (W), and 8mm (H)
SLC, from 128MB to 8GB
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on May 30, 2008 at 3:49 pmInnoDisk Corporation, the leading industrial grade storage manufacturer in Taiwan, is introducing SATADOM, the smallest pocket flash-based solid-state drive with the most unique and innovative functions. InnoDisk SATADOM, with a standard 7pin interface, can easily be applied to any SATA port without mechanical interference concern.
Also, comparing with most SATA interface storage devices without circuit for supply voltage, SATADOM is designed with the internal VCC supply voltage design to solve this problem. SATADOM is an ideal and reliable storage solution for Industrial PC, Embedded System, Gaming Machine, POS, Medical Devices, Automation System, Networking Infrastructure, as well as wildly compatible with the Operation System of Windows XPE, Linux, Win CE, DOS, and VxWorks.
Comparing with the most widely-used IDE/ATA interface in the market, the new chipset supporting SATA interface is gradually replacing IDE interface as the mainstream interface due to transfer speed and space consideration. The board makers were used the CF cards or IDE/ATA interface storage devices based on the consideration of enhancing the reliability, saving space, and reducing the cost. This change of in chipset leads us to a new board design to support SATA SSD with a growing market.
However, the transformation process is not going well with two main reasons. First, current mechanical designs are mostly designed for IDE interface, and such designs not only use up much more space than SATA interface would, but also would cause the mechanical interference problems. Even the space occupied by SATA solution was saved up to 70% with reducing the interface width from 58mm to 17mm, it still takes time for the market to adjust new designs for SATA interface mainly. Second, the current SATA solution with 7 pin interface in the market requests for external power cable which does not meet the requirement for an environment with intense shocks and vibration, nor for the high wireless request.
InnoDisk SATADOM has been trimmed down in size measured only 20.5mm in length, 39mm in width, and 8mm in height; in terms of size, it is sized up 10 % of 2.5” SSD and 30% of 1.8” SSD. Using a SATA I interface and an industry standard SATA connector, InnoDisk SATADOM is easy to connect with SATA port. For any height restriction, SATADOM in horizontal-type design provides you for another option. With the convertible horizontal-type design measured 10.3mm in height, 30mm in length, and 18mm in width, the space restriction and mechanical interference can be avoided completely. SATADOM is designed to have the internal VCC supply voltage without external cable to meet the requirement for a high wireless concept. Furthermore, within lock design on its connector enhancing the connection, SATADOM meets the requirement for a high shock and vibration environment within lock design on its connector, SATADOM. This reliable SATADOM offers different storage capacities options ranging from 128MB to 8GB. Selecting the most cost-effective storage device based on different operation systems from various storage capacities is beneficial for system integrators.
InnoDisk SATADOM uses only SLC (Single Level Cell) type of flash; each block guarantees 100,000 program/erase cycles and the implementation of Wear Leveling Algorithm prolongs the product lifespan greatly. The ECC function ensures the data integrity and reliability while SATADOM is under process. This ultra mini size SATA SSD is completely designed for harsh operation environment and is able to fulfill the demand for high performance and reliability. The SATADOM can provide the perfect solution for industrial applications and embedded systems.
