Enigmatec Enhances Run Book Automation Platform
With automated disaster recovery
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on April 28, 2008 at 3:59 pmEnigmatec Corporation Limited, an independent global provider of Run Book Automation (RBA) solutions, announced the availability of a new product to improve IT system availability and automate responses to system failure.
Enigmatec Automated Disaster Recovery provides a pre-packaged set of IT process workflows and an innovative infrastructure modeler which enables enterprises of any size to rapidly implement high availability and disaster recovery (HA/DR) processes across heterogeneous hardware and software platforms, including virtualized environments.
Traditional HA/DR approaches (clustering and fully-redundant hardware, for example) are often narrowly focused on certain applications and/or hardware platforms and are costly to deploy. These solutions also tend to be inflexible and difficult to reconfigure when there are any significant changes to data center architecture. Enigmatec’s solution can be deployed in virtually any environment, delivering the benefits of high availability when traditional clustering or redundant hardware solutions are prohibitively expensive. Enigmatec Automated Disaster Recovery captures and organizes HA/DR processes and makes it easy to modify, extend, redeploy, and reuse them throughout the enterprise and on heterogeneous systems, thus reducing errors and downtime while greatly improving availability service levels.
The Carphone Warehouse has dramatically reduced the cost of implementing its disaster recovery strategy by using Enigmatec Automated Disaster Recovery’s ability to virtualize business continuity. Under user approval, it can fail-over the production systems environment to the non-production development and test environment to enable the latter to double-up as the disaster recovery back-up – all in a matter of minutes.
Simon Post, CTO of The Carphone Warehouse, said "The deployment will improve the utilization and efficiency of IT equipment and operations staff throughout the IT lifecycle and make sure that IT is better aligned to the business."
The system is designed to automatically flex IT resources to meet application and user demands in real time, as well as improving business continuity service levels. Return on investment is anticipated in under 12 months.
"While each of our customers has a unique mix of applications and technologies, they all share the need for improved, reliable and repeatable responses to disaster and component failures," said Duncan Johnston Watt, Chief Technology Officer, of Enigmatec. "Our Automated Disaster Recovery solution enables our customers to minimize downtime and maximize infrastructure utilization and also leverages Enigmatec’s industry-leading expertise in managing virtualization technologies such as the virtual servers and storage area networks."
