Infortrend and Tiger Technology Certify Interoperability
Between RAID, SAN management and server virtualization software
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on April 15, 2008 at 4:07 pmInfortrend and Tiger Technology have certified interoperability between Infortrend’s Fibre Channel (FC) RAID storage subsystems and Tiger Technology’s storage area network (SAN) management and server virtualization software.
Adding metaSAN/metaLAN software to EonStor RAID arrays gives IT professionals an affordable, high-performance, cross-platform SAN that allows huge amounts of data to be shared efficiently. The combined solution delivers high throughput and is ideal for complex production environments that rely on a mix of computers running different operating systems. Supported FC host models include the EonStor F16F-R/S4031; FF-R/S4030; S16F-R/G1430; S12F-R/G1420; B12F-R/G1430; A24F-R/S2430; A16F-R/G2431(0); A12F-G2422; and A08F-G2422.
Tiger Technology’s metaSAN software manages the SAN and eliminates the risk of file system corruption by arbitrating simultaneous accesses and performing file-system translation that allows Windows-, Mac-, and Linux-based computers to share access to the same files. metaLAN provides the server virtualization technology that enables benefits such as failover, dynamic load balancing, and quality of service to the LAN clients. Multiple servers and workstations can now attach to and simultaneously access information from EonStor arrays over Fibre Channel interfaces. Support for native NTFS and HFS+ file systems simplifies SAN setup, keeps maintenance costs low, and ensures compliance with IT standards for years to come.
“The Tiger-Infortrend solution delivers exceptional value in terms of performance and ease of integration,” commented Nicolas Zawacki, Director of Technologies at Datrox Computer Technologies. “Using a standard file system virtually eliminates the complexity often associated with SAN volume management. This is a perfect setup for our customers that don’t have extensive IT expertise in house.”
“Efficiently sharing huge amounts of data across multiple operating systems is critical in many industries including the AV market,” said Alan Johnson, senior director of sales and marketing for Infortrend Corporation. “With metaSAN on our EonStor systems, multiple video editors working in a heterogeneous computing environment can simultaneously access shared data files as easily as if the content was stored on their local drive, saving them valuable time and money in the post-production process.”
“Matching Infortrend’s RAID arrays with our metaSAN software has proved to be a natural combination: both of our companies offer products that are affordable, time tested, and field proven, and are dedicated to providing our customers with 24×7 access to their mission-critical data,” added Alexander Lefterov, CTO for Tiger Technology. “Heterogeneous OS support and compatibility with standard applications and interfaces make the solutions even easier to install and use.”
