C2C and Titus Labs Integrate Classification
For more effective archiving and discovery
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on April 8, 2008 at 3:38 pmC2C, developer of policy driven, cost effective message management and archiving products, and Titus Labs, Inc., a provider of email and document classification solutions that enable organizations to classify, manage and control e-mail and documents, are working together to provide solutions that will allow organizations to make more informed decisions concerning the archiving, storage, retention and discovery of business records, while reducing storage costs simultaneously.
“Organisations need to decide which messages to archive based on their own specific internal classification structures, in addition to the advanced centralized policy criteria that are offered within Archive One. Storage demands for email are growing quickly and governance requirements continue to expand. So organizations need to find solutions that will manage the number of emails archived while still meeting all internal and external compliance requirements,” said David Cassell, Product Manager at C2C. “The ability to archive email based on end user classification of messages assists organizations in making better choices about which messages should be archived and retained by Archive One. Customers using the Titus Labs classification solutions with Archive One will now be able to make more effective archive and retention decisions.”
“The Titus Labs Message Classification for Outlook solution allows a one-click selection of classification properties for new email. Integration of the Titus Labs solution with Archive One provides a basis for more informed storage and retention decisions. Archive One can be easily configured by administrators to filter certain classification of email into the archive. The length of retention can also be determined based on the classification of the type of information contained in the message,” said Charlie Pulfer, VP Product Management at Titus Labs. “This provides an overall solution that ensures only important records are retained, and storage management costs are reduced”.
Classifying for Archive
Classification creates metadata which remains with the email. The metadata can then be used by Archive One to segment records based on their business value. This segmentation allows the assignment of unique retention and deletion policies based on the business value of the message, thus ensuring that records are not retained for longer than required for business or regulatory compliance reasons. Classification metadata can also dramatically improve the speed and effectiveness of the search and retrieval process. This approach has three main advantages that allows more effective data records storage decisions.
- Smart Filtering – based on the assigned classifications organizations can determine which messages contain valuable business information that needs to be retained in the archive.
- Smart Retention – based on the classifications organizations can make intelligent decisions on how long to retain different classes of information in the archive
- Smart Discovery – organizations can more easily find relevant email in the archive based on applied classifications.
Archive One enables large and small enterprises and government agencies to create a centrally managed, scalable, and searchable email archive that assists with the retention, management, discovery, and control of electronic data. By implementing Archive One, organizations can fully optimize storage needs, significantly reduce IT overhead, and dramatically increase end-user productivity.
