New iSCSI SAN From StorMagic With LSI MegaRAID for SMB
Starting at $3,000 per appliance
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on April 8, 2008 at 3:39 pmStorMagic, a developer of iSCSI SAN management software, today announced the StorMagic SM Series 2.1 iSCSI Storage Area Network (SAN) solution for small and medium organisations. Together with its new product release, which is adding support for LSI MegaRAID SAS/SATA adapters, the company is also announcing a new server-based pricing model. The new pricing model allows end-users to scale with the number of Windows-based servers that they are adding. Starting at $3,000 per appliance, StorMagic provides a cost-effective entry product that scales in connectivity and price as the organisations’ needs grow.
The new product release adds LSI MegaRAID adapter support, allowing Value-Added Resellers (VARs), system integrators and end-users to configure a powerful iSCSI SAN storage solution for use with MegaRAID adapters for SATA and SAS. MegaRAID adapters add to the existing list of SATA and SAS RAID solutions supported by the StorMagic product.
“The SMB market has specific storage requirements, and LSI MegaRAID adapters address these without sacrificing storage performance,” said Tom Kodet, worldwide channel marketing manager at LSI Corporation. “StorMagic has a unique focus on the SMB market, and the addition of LSI MegaRAID support for their iSCSI SAN solutions better positions us to service our mutual customers.”
“With this new licensing model, StorMagic proved once more its commitment to the SMB market,” said Jeff Rudolph of Sikich LLP. “The new structure will allow us to bring this solution to even more of our clients, and we know that, thanks to the StorMagic iSCSI SAN solution, they will be able to deal with the data growth they are experiencing without the burden of a large capital investment.”
“As a storage vendor focused on SMB customers, we understand that the needs and budgets of the SMB market are different that those of larger organizations,” said Mike Stolz, vice president of sales and marketing at StorMagic. “Also, some organizations have only a few servers installed while others have many more. Based on feedback from our integrators and end customers, we have adjusted our offering to be based on the number of servers and allow organisations to grow their systems with their needs. We have found out that SMBs prefer to expand their systems based on server count rather than capacity.”
StorMagic SM Series is an iSCSI-based Storage Area Network (SAN) solution designed specifically for SMBs to help them store, share, manage and protect data through a single, easy-to-use interface. Non-disruptive data migration, consolidation, and management are now accessible to SMBs without the higher cost and complexity of typical SAN solutions. Data protection is performed locally using RAID and snapshot technologies for backup, data retention, or compliance purposes.
