Samsung and Hitachi GST Sign HDD Cross-Licensing Agreement

Samsung Electronics wrote in a filing on the Korean Stock Exchange that it signed a cross-licence agreement with Hitachi GST covering all hard disk drive patents. It concerns the patents of HGST as well as the IP of IBM disk business acquired by HGST in 2002 for $2 billion.

Consequently, the two companies have dropped all their current patent suits on the subject.
