US Army Enterprise Cloud Management Agency Expands its Oracle Defense Cloud Services

New capabilities can enable the US Army to modernize its operations

Oracle Corporation announced a firm-fixed price task order through the US Department of Defense (DoD) Joint Warfighting Cloud Capability (JWCC) contract to provide the US Army’s Enterprise Cloud Management Agency (ECMA) with cloud compute and storage services.

These services, delivered via Oracle US Defense Cloud, will cover Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Impact Levels (IL) 2, 4, 5, and 6. ECMA is a field operating agency under the US Army’s Office of the CIO.

Building on the DoD’s largest competitive JWCC award in 2024, this new task order will help advance the ECMA’s mission to deliver and manage a secure, multicloud ecosystem in support of the Army Digital Transformation Strategy (ADTS). In addition, by expanding ECMA’s catalog of cloud capabilities, the new task order will enable Army customers to further innovate across all operational domains.

ECMA is committed to delivering innovation at scale with a secure multicloud environment that empowers the Army to achieve its digital transformation goals,” said Gabe Chiulli, CTO, ECMA.

Oracle Defense Cloud provides secure and isolated cloud regions specifically designed for government and defense workloads, to help address demanding regulatory requirements and security standards across all DoD classification levels. These dedicated regions offer a hyperscale cloud environment with consistent global pricing and the same services that are offered in Oracle’s public cloud, while maintaining physical separation for the highest levels of security and resilience.

Now, organizations can expect significant cost savings and access to the same resource rates in Oracle Defense Cloud regions as their commercial counterparts use for Oracle’s public cloud offerings.

With Oracle Defense Cloud, ECMA can securely maintain sensitive information at scale while enabling migration of existing on-premises environments and eliminating complex and time-consuming integrations.

Federal agencies face increasing pressure to modernize their infrastructure while maintaining the highest security standards and controlling costs,” said Kim Lynch, executive VP, government, defense and intelligence, Oracle. “Our purpose-built cloud solutions will help ECMA to address these challenges head-on, delivering the performance, security, and efficiencies that Army customers need in order to achieve more with less.

To deliver superior performance for Oracle-specific workloads, the Oracle Defense Cloud leverages specialized hardware and software such as Oracle Exadata, Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) and Oracle Autonomous Database. It also features advanced data analytics and AI/ML capabilities tailored to DoD requirements, enabling a consistent experience across all Impact Levels.
