QNAP Launches QDA-UMP4A M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD to 2.5-Inch U.2 SSD Adapter for NAS

QNAP Systems, Inc. launched the QDA-UMP4A adapter.

This adapter allows users to install a M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD into a 2.5-inch U.2 (SFF-8639) PCIe NVMe SSD slot of a QNAP NAS.

Andy Chuang, product manager, QNAP, stated: “The QDA-UMP4A is ideal for users who need versatile drive options for various scenarios, from enterprise applications to multimedia workloads. Users can boost data-heavy applications with QNAP’s U.2 SSD-based flagship all-flash NAS models.”

Key Features:

• Fits 2.5-inch U.2 NAS bay:
  The QDA-UMP4A is designed with a height of 7mm to fit into a 2.5-inch U.2 NAS drive bay.

• No drivers required:
  Users can install the QDA-UMP4A without needing any additional drivers or software, simplifying the setup process.

• Greater market choice:
  The QDA-UMP4A allows users to take advantage of the wider selection and cost benefits of M.2 2280/2260/2242/2230 NVMe SSDs compared to U.2 SSDs.

• Hot-swappable:
  M.2 SSDs installed in the QDA-UMP4A are hot-swappable, enabling easy replacement and reduced system downtime. (Note: Some NAS models do not support hot-swap.)

• Thermal pad and heatsink:
  The QDA-UMP4A includes a thermal pad and heatsink to prevent M.2 SSDs from overheating and experiencing decreased performance.
