History 2005: Seagate and Cornice Reached Partial Agreement in Pending Patent Lawsuits

Which have been in litigation since June 2004

HDD makers Seagate  Technology and Cornice have reached a partial agreement in their pending patent lawsuits which have been in litigation since June of last year.

Seagate Cornice

Cornice has agreed by May 31 to stop manufacturing its 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0GB one-inch HDDs.

If we’ve understood rightly, the start-up still has the possibility to continue with its 3.0GB unit production.

But the case is not entirely settled between the 2 companies, and another suit brought before the same US District Court of Delaware remains on the books for June 2006.

Cornice was also dragged through court by another HDD maker, Western Digital, again for a patent violation.
