History 2005: Showa Denko Expands Disk Media Production
From 10.7 to 13.75 million disks per month

This is what’s been inspiring the leader among independent makers, Japanese Showa Denko, since its Trace Storage acquisition in 2004, to expands its production from 10.7 to 13.75 million disks per month by March 2006, following an investment of $111 million.
The company has targeted 1.8-inch glass disk platters, but is also looking at 0.85-inch disks using perpendicular magnetic recording.
