History 2004: Atempo Invests in USA
Until now experiencing difficulties in penetrating country
By Jean Jacques Maleval | April 1, 2024 at 2:01 pmFrench firm Atempo, while generally esteemed for the quality of its Time Navigator backup software chosen WW by 1,750 users, has until now experienced a number of difficulties in penetrating USA.
This time, however, it’s going the distance, with new North American HQs in California moving from Santa Clara to Palo Alto, and an impressive new team.
Herve Goguely was named executive VP of US operations, after serving at the head of Cisco’s WW services sales organization, and even briefly as chairman of Atempo’s U.S. holding company. Formerly with Legato for 5 years, then director of North American sales at BakBone, Marianne Nole joins company as VP sales. Then there’s Randy Batterson as director of strategic alliances and OEMs, a position he previously held at BakBone, after stints at Compaq and Seagate. Add to this dream team Paul Linares, who has become VP of U.S. technical operations.
Initial results are already noticeable. Silicon Graphics has signed an agreement with the French software firm to resell Time Navigator. Another accord was concluded with lntransa to offer a joint solution combining lntransa’s IP5000 storage system with Time Navigator software.
For nearly 10 years now, Atempo (formerly Quadratec Software) has been dreaming of an IPO and commercial success on the scale of a Legato or a Veritas.
