HDD Shipments Flat at 28-29 Million
Capacity Shipped Totals Approximately 212EB
3.5″/2.5″ Enterprise HDDs: Shipments lifted to just above 11 million units with nearline rising to nearly 10 million units in the quarter. Improvements in high-capacity cloud demand drove an estimated 18% sequential increase in capacity shipments to approximately 159EB. Performance enterprise HDD units rose an estimated 10% Q/Q.
3.5″ Desktop/CE HDDs: Total shipments (including 3.5″ external and branded surveillance HDDs) dipped to just under 10 million units in 4CQ23 with expected surveillance declines contributing to the reduction.
2.5″ Mobile/CE HDDs: Shipments, which are no longer impacted by PC demand, rose to just over 8 million units in the quarter, driven by seasonally higher retail sales and reversing an unseasonable drop in the prior quarter.
