History 2003: Imation Gets Hands on Parts of Emtec Magnetics

Following the bankruptcy of Emtec International, Imation has acquired, for undisclosed terms, certain assets and IP relating to removable storage media from Emtec Magnetics, in particular one activity that’s fairly lucrative, involving 3480, 3490E and 9490E cartridges.

According to Ron Zinke, VP of storage media at Imation: “As a result of Emtec’s insolvency filing, there have been some limitations in the availability of raw materials which has caused temporary supply restrictions of legacy products to the market.“
