Availability of PeerGFS V.5.2 from Peer Software

Peer Software, Inc. announced the availability of PeerGFS v5.2.

This is a release that is available for purchase, trial download, and as an upgrade.

PeerGFS v5.2 includes multiple new features and enhancements to improve performance, usability, and security that are available to all the company’s customers with active PeerLink and PeerGFS software maintenance and support agreement, including:

Introduced a connector for Dell PowerScale, replacing the Common Event Enabler with syslog.
Improved support for NetApp Ontap, adding support for the new Ontap REST API.
Introduced a new job relay capability for File Replication jobs.
Added Wasabi as an additional target platform for cloud backup and replication jobs.
Added proxy support to the Peer Management Center (PMC) for both checking for updates and uploading logs to Peer Software support.
Improved the manual failover process of the PMC with one-click failover support.
Improved replication of configuration between primary and passive PMCs, including support for Linux-based PMCs.
Upgraded Java and dependency libraries.

Introducing premium features for subscription customers
In addition to core product updates, PeerGFS v5.2 incorporates features and functionality for PeerGFS Subscription customers, including:

Introduced a new automated failover capability for the Peer Management Center (PMC), featuring:
- Automatic failover from a primary PMC to a passive PMC.
- A new ‘watcher node’ to aid with automatic failover as well as avoid split-brain scenarios.
Renamed ‘Dynamic Storage Utilization’ feature to ‘Edge Caching’ to better align the feature name with the value that it provides.
Improved the PeerIQ user interface along with performance and stability.

As major new features are introduced in future versions of PeerGFS, the company will note if they are available only for subscription customers.
