HDD Shipments Flat at 31-32 Million
Total Capacity Shipped at Approximately 200EB
3.5″/2.5″ Enterprise HDDs: Total enterprise HDD shipments eased slightly to around 10.5 million units as nearline dipped to just under 9 million units in the quarter. A stronger mix of higher-capacity nearline lifted capacity shipments by an estimated 10EB Q/Q to 136RB. Performance enterprise HDDs remained flat Q/Q.
3.5″ Desktop/CE HDDs: Total 3.5″ desktop/CE HDD shipments (including 3.5″ external and branded surveillance HDDs) held flat at just over 12 million units in 3Q23 as the decline from PC demand in the final shift to SSDs was offset by improvements in surveillance and retail HDD shipments.
2.5″ Mobile/CE HDDs: 2.5″ mobile/CE HDD shipments, which are no longer impacted by PC demand, rose to just over 9 million units in the quarter, driven by seasonally higher retail sales.
