SvSAN improved disk latency and offered easy storage usage visualisation compared to the market’s alternatives. Since installation, Charles Russell Speechlys has simplified their IT environment, ensured HA and reduced costs.

Charles Russell Speechlys previously used VMware vSAN to manage its business level applications, including domain controller, Exchange databases, and SQL. vSAN was difficult to manage, costly and the features were overkill in their 2-node solutions located at remote sites. With offices located in multiple geographies, vSAN renewal meant the customer was facing costs that included 9 unique licenses and 9 separate contracts.

Charles Russell Speechlys searched the market for an alternative solution to lower costs while maintaining HA in their environment and shortlisted 3 solutions – Starwind, Linux Ceph and StorMagic SvSAN. The customer chose SvSAN, which is running on 2 HPE DL380 servers in a hyperconverged configuration, in 9 of their offices.

After conducting a thorough market evaluation, we determined that StorMagic SvSAN is the most suitable option for our replacement HCI solution,” said Jack Jalali, enterprise systems manager, Charles Russell Speechlys. “The deployment and management process of this solution was found to be the most streamlined compared to other available options. Additionally, the cost of StorMagic SvSAN was significantly more affordable compared to its competitors. The level of support provided by StorMagic was also deemed to be superior in comparison to other market offerings.
