Qnap in Partnership with Hailo to Bring AI-Powered Surveillance Solutions

Joint solution centralizes AI computing on surveillance server, saving costs of cloud computing or purchasing large number of expensive AI cameras.

Qnap Systems, Inc. announced a partnership with Hailo Technologies Ltd., chipmaker of AI processors.

This partnership brings AI-powered facial recognition and people counting solutions to surveillance systems with boosted performance using the Hailo-8 M.2 AI acceleration module.

The partnership sees Hailo’s AI acceleration technology integrated with Qnap’s QVR Face, a smart facial recognition solution, and QVR Human people counting solution. The combined solution boosts video recognition performance and capabilities, making it for an economical centralized security and AI surveillance solution in large-scale deployment.

Based on the Hailo-8 AI processor with high power efficiency, the Hailo-8 M.2 module delivers AI performance for edge devices, enabling over 4x higher performance than a Tensor Processing Unit (TPU). With this partnership, the company will become a distribution point for the Hailo-8 M.2 2280 B+M key module, providing better services for customers.

The joint solution of the 2 companies centralizes AI computing on a surveillance server, saving costs of cloud computing or purchasing a large number of expensive AI cameras. Users can add a Hailo-8 M.2 AI acceleration module to a Qnap surveillance server for boosted AI recognition performance – fulfilling efficient, large-scale smart surveillance with up to 50% lower running costs.

Offering compatibility of over 6,700 IP cameras from 190 renowned brands, including ONVIF compatible cameras, the firm’s surveillance solutions allow users to choose from various IP cameras based on their needs. Compared to using expensive AI cameras equipment with a dedicated surveillance server (narrower compatibility), users can enjoy maintenance flexibility for future scalability and maximize their investment using a surveillance solution with Hailo-8 M.2 module.
