My Cloud Home: WD Discovery Desktop App End of Support
Starting June 2023, firm will no longer be supporting Discovery software for My Cloud Home Desktop App.

The company is focused on providing customer experiences with our products. With that focus, from time to time we retire legacy software products that are no longer consistent with the firm’s customer experience ecosystem.
Starting June 2023, the firm will no longer be supporting the Discovery software for My Cloud Home Desktop App.
This means there will be no further functional and security updates for this feature. At this time, remote access to your My Cloud Home device will also no longer be available through the Discovery desktop app.

What does ‘no longer supported’ mean?
WD Discovery will no longer support My Cloud Home devices. There will also no longer be any new releases or security updates for My Cloud Home on WD Discovery. The firm will discontinue all development, including critical security updates and technical support. As new versions of operating systems are released, these features might stop working and will not be fixed. Discovery will continue to function and be supported for other compatible company’s storage products. -
How can I uninstall WD Discovery?

When is support ending?
Support will end in June 2023. -
Can user continue to use the software after June 2023?
If user already have WD Discovery installed, user will no longer be able to mount your My Cloud Home device as a local drive, however users can use local network access. For more information, please refer to Answer ID 34991: How to Enable Local Network Access to Data on My Cloud Home Using the Dashboard. When there are changes in the OS and services that Discovery integrates with, product features might stop working and will not be fixed. -
How can I access my content in My Cloud Home from my computer without WD Discovery?
Users can still access their content remotely using My Cloud Home Web App or the My Cloud mobile app. the company has also added SMB local network access since the 8.12 firmware. Will user lose any data?
WD Discovery provides access to your content on a My Cloud Home device. When WD Discovery is uninstalled, the original files will not be deleted. You can access your files as described below under ‘How does this affect me?’ -

How does this affect me?
Local drive mounting via Discovery for My Cloud Home desktop app will no longer be supported. If you used the desktop app to access your files stored on your My Cloud Home device, you will now need to access them in one of the following ways:

Will desktop sync continue to function?
Desktop sync functionality for My Cloud Home will no longer be available as of June 2023. However, there may be 3rd party applications which may achieve similar functionality when you enable local network access.Important:
