Senior engineers from Secure Data Recovery Services restored access to permanently deleted Veeam Software, Inc.‘s backup repositories on a 48-drive RAID-5 server storing critical business information for DiversiTech Corporation, an international manufacturer and distributor based in Atlanta, GA.

Diversitech officials contacted Secure Data Recovery Services when they discovered that multiple .VBK files in Veeam backup repositories stored on their Cisco 3260 server had permanently been deleted.

A team of data recovery specialists were assigned to the case. Given the size of the server and the complexity of the recovery process, the engineering team decided that remote data recovery would be the most efficient and secure method for restoring the lost backups.

After establishing a secure connection to DiversiTech’s server via SSH protocol, the recovery team conducted around-the-clock service, which uncovered remnants of all deleted Veeam backups, including data fragments spread across the entire file system.

After carving all .VBK and .VIB file fragments by hand and stitching them into archive chains, the engineers were able to reconstruct all deleted backup repositories for a total of more than 14TB of data.
