Israeli Start-Up Volumez to Shake Storage Software Landscape for Kubernetes
New player to deliver modern storage volume management
By Philippe Nicolas | January 12, 2023 at 2:02 pmFounded in 2020 by Jonathan Amit and David Benayoun, Volumez is an Israeli storage software company developing a cloud volume orchestrator.
The company has offices in Israel, New-York and Boston, MA, and received seed investments from Viola Ventures and Pitango Venture Capital.
Jonathan Amit is the CTO as LinkedIn stated. He was CEO since the creation until December 2022, David Benayoun is COO and we see also Brian Carmody as field CTO but no CEO yet. We anticipate that some new executives will arrive soon in the company and we’ll be able to give more details later.
The team targets Kubernetes and instance-based architectures. As an orchestrator, the idea is to use declarative rules for resiliency, security and performance needs to build the logical volume with distributed storage resources. It supports public and private clouds and masks complexity of such environments especially at the persistent storage level. The storage composability leverages Amazon EC2 Instance Store, Google Compute Local SSDs and Azure Ephemeral OS Disks to establish secure data volumes for stateful workloads.
