NEC Platforms Assigned Three Patents

Recovery device, system, and method, magnetic tape, magnetic recording, and tape lifting method for magnetic tape, data backup, relay site storage, data backup, and control program for relay site storage

Recovery device, system, and method
NEC Platforms, Ltd., Kawasaki, Japan, has been assigned a patent (11,398,250) developed by Ishii, Hiroaki, Kanagawa, Japan, for recovery device, recovery system, and recovery method.

The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: “In order to improve the probability of recovering tape remaining in a tape device without disassembling the tape device, this recovery device comprises: a connection unit that attaches one lengthwise end of a designated recovery tape member to near one lengthwise end, which is a free end, of a tape member having the other end bound to a designated binding member, a recovery unit to which the other end of the recovery tape member is fixed and that winds the recovery tape member and the attached tape member, and a release unit that separates the tape member from the binding member at the other end or near the other end after attachment.

The patent application was filed on December 13, 2019 (17/299,451).

Magnetic tape, magnetic recording, and tape lifting method for magnetic tape
NEC Platforms, Ltd., Kawasaki, Japan, has been assigned a patent (11,393,504) developed by Ojima, Kenichi, Kanagawa, Japan, for magnetic tape device, magnetic recording device, and tape lifting method for magnetic tape device.

The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: “A magnetic tape device includes: a magnetic head, a head actuator that holds the magnetic head, and a tape lifting mechanism including a lifter arm. The lifter arm comes into contact with the magnetic tape to separate a magnetic tape from the magnetic head. The tape lifting mechanism moves the lifter arm in a push-out direction in conjunction with the head actuator moving in a first direction. The tape lifting mechanism moves the lifter arm in a retreating direction in conjunction with the head actuator moving in a second direction. The lifter arm pushes out the magnetic tape to separate the magnetic tape from the magnetic head, in response to the lifter arm moving in the push-out direction. The lifter arm separates from the magnetic tape to bring the magnetic tape into contact with the magnetic head, in response to the lifter arm moving in the retreating direction.

The patent application was filed on December 25, 2017 (16/479,639).

Data backup, relay site storage, data backup, and control program for relay site storage
NEC Platforms, Ltd., Kawasaki, Japan, has been assigned a patent (11,321,005) developed by Ikeda, Junichiro, Kanagawa, Japan, for data backup system, relay site storage, data backup method, and control program for relay site storage.

The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: “A data backup system is provided with: a plurality of devices for main site storage, one device for relay site storage, and one or more devices for backup site storage. While the main site is operating normally, the relay site storage implements synchronized replication of data held by the main site storage and data held by the relay site storage. After the main site has stopped operating normally, the data held by the relay site storage and the data held by the backup site storage are subjected to consistency ensuring replication.

The patent application was filed on November 21, 2018 (16/766,458).
