History 2000: Nora Denzel to Head HP Storage
Ex-Legato exec
By Jean Jacques Maleval | November 25, 2022 at 2:00 pmHewlett-Packard has finally found a successor to Mike Matson in the position of VP and GM of its WW storage organization, Nora Denzel.
She recently quit her post at Legato Systems, where she was SVP of product operations.
What’s most significant about HP’s choice is that the firm had decided to lean toward a candidate with a software rather than hardware background, confirming to us that HP is slowly withdrawing from the latter, at least in terms of manufacturing.
Denzel will be based in Cupertino, CA, reporting to president of HP’s computing systems organization Duane Zitzner.
Before Legato, she worked for 12 years at IBM in technical and business roles, ending as director of storage management products in San Jose, CA. Prior to contacting Denzel, HP had also approached Wo Overstreet, the former CEO of Creative Design Solutions, who accepted the position before withdrawing candidacy after for personal reasons.
Matson is expected to remain on with HP’s information storage group, reporting to Denzel.
