Highest Capacity SSDs Released, From 10TB to 100TB
63 units listed
By Jean Jacques Maleval | March 24, 2022 at 2:02 pmWe keep a list of all the SSDs announced since 1991 representing 1,670 units with their main specs.
Below are all of them with a capacity of 10TB and more (63 models), but some them are not anymore available.
The first two ones from Nimbus Data, at a record capacity of 100TB, are for a niche market as their form factor is 3.5 inches, too big to be integrated in common computers, and very costly when announced ($10,900).
The units from Seagate never appear on the market. The 64TB was only a demo presented at Flash Memory Summit in 2017, the 60TB SAS SSD was a also demonstration technology, anticipated for some time in 2017 but never offered.
Many of them have a greater capacity than highest capacity HDDs (20TB, 3.5-inch).
Some manufacturers revealed SSDs in 3.5-inch form factor but about nobody continues in this big volume. Most of them now are using 2.5-inch form factor U.2, U.3, M.2. or PCIe cards.
In term of interfaces, they can be found now with 12Gb SAS, 6Gb SATA, PCIe NVMe and NVMe-oF with significant performance improvement,.
Prices of 3D NAND chips, and consequently SSDs, decline and this trend will probably continue. But for more than 10TB, SSDs continue to be very expansive and HDDs are unbeatable in price, if not in performance.
