History (1998): 10,000G Shock Resistance on HDD, First Product From Datazone

Datazone, the start-up launched by Steve Kaczeus, has announced its first product, the DataBook, which the company defines as “the first rugged, transportable, HDD.”

About the size of a videocassette and weighing 7oz, the box contains a sealed 2GB to 8GB HDD with parallel port connector or PCMCIA kit.

Shock resistance is an incredible 10,000G.

Pricing starts at $379, and the product is already available.
