NEC Platforms, Ltd., Kanagawa, Japan, has been assigned a patent (11,211,092) developed by Suzuki, Mitsunori, Kanagawa, Japan, for a “method of inspecting magnetic recording tape using image sensor .“
The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: “A magnetic tape device (100) includes: a winding reel (101) winding a magnetic tape (201); a drive head (103) performing writing information onto the magnetic tape (201) and/or reading the information recorded on the magnetic tape (201); an image sensor (104) picking up an image of a surface of the magnetic tape (201); and a control unit (105) performing image processing on the image picked up the image sensor (104) and determining presence/absence of an abnormality on the surface of the magnetic tape (201), in which the control unit (105) adjusts, in accordance with at least either one of a type of the drive head (103) and a recording density of the magnetic tape (201), a winding speed at which the magnetic tape (201) is wound by the winding reel (101) when the image sensor (104) picks up the image of the surface of the magnetic tape (201).”

Information processing that moves file based on file size, file access interval time and storage power consumption
NEC Platforms, Ltd., Kanagawa, Japan, has been assigned a patent (11,209,995) developed by Sugihara, Mitumasa, Tago, Akira, Nakajima, Makoto, Hayakawa, Yuuki, Matsui, Yasutaka, and Negishi, Kunitaka, Kanagawa, Japan, for a “information processing apparatus that moves file based on file size, file access interval time and storage power consumption.“
The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: “An information processing apparatus of the present invention is an information processing apparatus that manages a hierarchical storage including a primary storage and a secondary storage. The information processing apparatus includes an acquisition unit that acquires a measurement value obtained by measuring a power consumption amount of each of the primary storage and the secondary storage, a determination unit that determines whether or not to move a file between the primary storage and the secondary storage, on the basis of a condition for determining a storage destination of the file to be stored in the hierarchical storage with use of the measurement value, the size of the file, and the access interval time of the file, and a relocation unit that moves the file between the primary storage and the secondary storage in accordance with the determination.”
The patent application was filed on February 25, 2019 (16/970,729).
