Revenue of global company up 21% Y/Y, but only 1% for storage
Dell Technologies, Inc. announces record financial results for its fiscal 2022 third quarter.
The company generated record global revenue of $28.4 billion, up 21% Y/Y.
But storage was far to follow these excellent figures.
Even if infrastructure solutions group sales for the quarter was $8.4 billion, up 5% and the third consecutive quarter of positive Y/Y revenue growth, as customers accelerate IT investments, storage revenue was only $3.9 billion, up yearly 1%.
Servers and networking revenue was $4.5 billion, up 9% for a 4th consecutive quarter of yearly growth.
1% is not so bad if your consider that storage sales formerly decline Q/Q for the 7th former quarters (see table below).
Nevertheless, the company stated:” We are pleased with our storage performance in 3FQ22, where we saw storage return to growth with revenue up 1% to $3.9 billion. Our overall storage demand was strong, driven by orders growth of 47% for hyperconverged infrastructure, 26% for data protection and 18% for mid-range storage.”
During the quarter, the firm introduced updates to its NAS portfolio, including new Dell EMC PowerScale systems and software enhancements, focused on providing customers with the flexible and secure consumption and management of unstructured data.
Furthermore, it launched an end-to-end NVMe/TCP solution, featuring SmartFabric Storage Software, which provides the intelligence for automated storage connectivity at scale.
It said that PowerStore is the fastest-ramping storage product in its history.
