IBM DS8900F all-flash family is designed to deliver comprehensive next-level cybersecurity, data stability, and system resiliency for mission-critical workloads across hybrid multicloud deployments.

The family offers DS8980F, an analytic-class storage system designed to expand mission-critical workload possibilities to AI, business intelligence, and ML.

IBM DS8980F Model 998 is a racked analytic-class solution delivering the following features:

• Two 11-core processors (22 cores) per central processor complex for a total of 44 cores per system
• Maximum of 192 flash cards
• 4.3TB processor memory per system
• 128GB non-volatile dual in-line memory module (NVDIMM) for write retention
• Up to 16 host adapters or 64 ports
• Single-phase and three-phase support
• Expansion Model E96 compatibility

Following functions available for DS8900F family models:

• Volume-level performance reporting
• Safeguarded Copy restore to production
• Consistent read from Metro Mirror secondary site
• FC connectivity reporting
• Encryption without key servers (local encryption)
• Unmap command for IBM i
• Expandable to 2TB and 3.4TB cache
• Transparent cloud tiering multicloud support

Key requirements: All announced features and functions that are supported on the IBM DS8000 series require DS8000 LMC 8.9.20.xx.xx (bundle version 89.20.xx.xx), or later.
