Dean Kelly Regional Sales Director Federal Government and ACT, Rubrik

After leaving Veritas

Kelly Rubrik

Rubrik, Inc. appointed Dean Kelly as regional sales director Federal Government and ACT.

He will be responsible for building firm’s presence in the territory, leading the newly-established Federal Government and ACT business, and expanding local partner base.

He is a veteran of Australia’s ICT industry with more than 25 years’ experience, much of which has been spent servicing the public sector with key roles in the Federal Government practices of firms including Telstra, TOWER Software, Alphawest, NEC, and, most recently, Veritas Technologies.

He joined Rubrik for its approach to data, protection, security, availability and, most importantly, automation. A key driver for his decision was an alignment with Rubrik to work with Australian Government agencies to challenge the status quo in a segment that had grown stale and commoditised – despite its increasing importance to the delivery of government services.

We’re in a data driven economy,” he said. “More government agencies are exploring digitisation in the wake of Covid-19, with data-driven insights set to define how the services Australians rely on are delivered. Rubrik and its partner network deliver innovation in the space and enable transformation now and into the future.
This digital shift is moving government and enterprise data centres toward being ‘auditable-ready’ at any given moment. “Success today comes down to having the right data, in the right place, at the right time, to deliver the right insight to make the right business decisions.
Rubrik delivers this on a single, policy-driven platform for data recovery, governance, compliance, and cloud mobility, empowering agencies to maximise the value they extract from their data.

With digital transformation efforts accelerated in response to the pandemic, and the Australian Federal Government allocating more than $3 billion in a bid to deliver all government services digitally by 2025, data has become Canberra’s most important commodity.
As things settle down throughout the pandemic and we gain more insight, there’ll be a real reckoning as Government IT leaders reassess their investments and realise some either weren’t necessary, are too difficult or costly to maintain, or don’t address the gaps they need.” efforts accelerated in response to the pandemic, and the Australian Federal Government allocating more than $3 billion in a bid to deliver all government services digitally by 2025, data has become Canberra’s most important commodity.

With data access, availability, and protection central to any digitisation effort, Rubrik is placed to become an extension of any government organisation – no matter where they are on their transformation journey.

Jamie Humphrey, MD, Rubrik A/NZ, said recent customer success in the territory led to expanding into the ACT and Kelly was the ideal candidate to lead the new business.

Dean Kelly has a very strong understanding of the local market,” Humphrey said. “I don’t just mean the relationships – and he has those in spades – but he understands what really makes agencies tick.
In Federal Government, more so than any other sector, instilling trust, understanding the client’s challenges, and not only delivering, but exceeding, your promises is absolutely vital – Kelly has a strong track record on all these fronts.

Over the coming months, Rubrik will be hiring additional Canberra-based personnel and expanding its ecosystem of channel partners.
