Accelerate large-scale analytics, improve storage economics, speed critical research, mitigate risk.
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on May 27, 2020 at 2:23 pmIBM Spectrum Discover offers additional licensing options to simplify storage management
IBM Spectrum Discover software delivers metadata management with data insight for petabyte-scale, unstructured storage.
It can:
- Accelerate large-scale analytics
- Improve storage economics
- Speed critical research
- Mitigate risk
IBM Spectrum Discover V2.0.3 delivers additional functionality to further enable users to enhance their experience in metadata management.
It is a metadata management software that delivers data insight for petabyte-scale, unstructured storage. It easily connects to IBM Cloud Object Storage and IBM Spectrum Scale to rapidly ingest, consolidate, and index metadata for billions of files and objects, providing a rich layer of metadata on top of these storage sources.
This metadata enables data scientists, storage administrators, and data stewards to manage, classify, and gain insights from massive amounts of unstructured data. The insights gained accelerate large-scale analytics, improve storage economics, and help with governance to create competitive advantage, speed critical research, and mitigate risk.
IBM Spectrum Discover highlights include:
- Event notifications and policy-based workflows to automate metadata ingestion and metadata indexing at a petabyte scale
- Fine-grained views of storage consumption based on a wide range of system and custom metadata
- Fast, efficient search through petabytes of data, resulting in highly relevant results for large-scale analytics
- Ability to quickly differentiate mission-critical business data from data that can either be deleted or moved to a cheaper, colder tier
- Policy-based custom tagging that enables organizations to classify and categorize data, and align this data with the needs of the business
- A SDK to build action agents that extract metadata from file headers and content, automate data movement, and provide integration to open source software, such as Apache Spark, Apache Tika, PyTorch, Caffe, and TensorFlow, to facilitate data identification and speed large-scale data processing
IBM Spectrum Discover offers additional part numbers for ordering capacity by petabyte. These offerings are in addition to the existing parts available for licensing by terabyte.
These options can help manage hyperscale deployments more conveniently by providing licensing entitlements that are better aligned with today’s very large storage infrastructures that extend into petabyte, or even exabyte, scale storage.
Key requirements: IBM Spectrum Discover V2.0.3 requires x86-based servers running Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
Planned availability date: May 22, 2020
