Qnap Enterprise-Grade TS-1886XU-RP 2U Rackmount NAS With 12-Bay 3.5-Inch HDDs and 6-Bay 2.5-Inch SSDs Dedicated
Using Xeon D-1600 processors
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 13, 2020 at 2:15 pmQnap Systems, Inc. launched the enterprise TS-1886XU-RP NAS.
Featuring Xeon D-1600 series processors with DDR4 ECC memory, it delivers server-grade performance with dependable reliability.
The 2U rackmount unit serves as a hybrid storage device with 12 3 -5-inch HDDs and six SSD dedicated slots, allowing users to benefit from auto-tiering Qtier technology that optimizes the NAS storage performance and cost-efficiency.
“The TS-1886XU-RP NAS hybrid storage architecture and multiple SSD optimization features make it a highly cost-efficient NAS with enterprise-grade performance,” said David Tsao, product manager, Qnap, adding “The feature-rich NAS incorporates features specially designed to help enterprises tackle today’s technology challenges in business environments, including 10GbE connectivity with RDMA/RoCE support, virtualization, backup and DR, cloud storage gateways, and more.“
TS-1886XU-RP NAS front and rear
The TS-1886XU-RP uses a Xeon D processor and supports up to 128GB dual-channel ECC DDR4 memory to help maintain data integrity. The hybrid storage structure can achieve performance and cost-efficiency with multiple company’s SSD technology, such as SSD caching for optimizing IO/s-demanding applications, and SSD extra over-provisioning for improving SSD random write speeds for business data, data center, and virtualization, while also extending SSD endurance and lifespan. In addition, Qtier enables auto-tiered storage allocation, optimizing the NAS performance and storage utilization.
The NAS provides 4 PCIe expansion slots. The pre-installed dual-port 10GbE SFP+ smart NIC uses the Broadcom NetXtreme-E network controller that supports RDMA over Converged Ethernet (RoCE and RoCEv2) to improve NAS performance while lowering CPU consumption of applications that use an Ethernet network. The 10GbE connectivity accelerates data-intensive transmission and also benefits high-speed remote backups via the company’s Hybrid Backup Sync (HBS) application. Users can install other PCIe expansion cards to expand NAS functionality, such as 10GbE/25GbE/40GbE network cards, QM2 cards for adding M.2 SSDs, and a SAS expansion card for connecting storage expansion enclosures. Installed with a FC card, the TS-1886XU-RP can be added to a FC SAN environment to satisfy high-performance storage and backup requirements.
It is scalable and provides business features. It supports storage for VMware, Citrix, Hyper-V, and Windows Server 2019 virtualization, and hosts multiple VMs , containerized apps. The block-based snapshots simplify data protection and restoration, and cloud storage gateways help businesses migrate data to the cloud. QVR Pro can help create a professional video surveillance system that offers 8 free IP camera channels that can be expanded to 128 through additional license purchases).
