Smartoptics: Availability of Series of Transceivers for 32Gb FC SAN Applications
Supported for embedded use in FC capable switches from leading vendors
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on August 16, 2019 at 2:43 pmSmartoptics AS announced the availability of a series of transceivers and an open line system for 32Gb FC SAN applications.
The company is already a provider of 8Gb and 16Gb certified FC connectivity solutions for several SAN vendor switches, and the offering extends this capability to 32Gb FC.
The 32GbFC transceivers have been tested and are supported for embedded use in the FC capable switches from leading vendors. The simplicity of the embedded solution enables a compact building practice, low power consumption, and an improved time to operation due to short delivery and installation time of transceivers.
The transceiver modules come in the industry standard SFP28 form factor and are designed for DWDM optical communication compliant to 8Gb, 16Gb and 32Gb FC standards. The transceivers can be used with passive filters and together with the company’s active open line systems to extend the reach up to 80km between datacenters.
Per Burman, director, strategic partner sales, Smartoptics, commented: “The new 32Gb transceivers are an important step for us and builds on the long relationship we have with several of the leading SAN switch vendors. With our new 32Gb FC transceivers we can now efficiently support their customers when upgrading to higher capacity SANs.“
