Asigra Teaming With iXsystems

Asigra, Inc. announced the Asigra Cloud Backup Plug-in for iXsystems’ FreeNAS.

The software-based solution combines FreeNAS storage OS and the Asigra Cloud Backup V14 plug-in for FreeNAS for data protection featuring anti-ransomware capabilities. For a limited time, the solution is free to companies protecting up to ten systems and ten cloud accounts.

With the expansion of the relationship between the to companies, the hundreds of thousands of FreeNAS systems currently deployed can be optimized as turnkey backup systems using the Cloud Backup V14 plug-in. Users can run the plug-in for FreeNAS to enable agentless backup of all devices on the company’s network. Asigra automatically gathers data from designated desktops, laptops, servers, mobile devices, and even cloud sources, then compresses, encrypts, and deduplicates the data before it is sent to the FreeNAS system for secure storage.

Available with the Asigra FreeNAS backup system is a signature-less malware detection engine that identifies and quarantines unauthorized or malicious embedded code, including unknown and zero-day attacks, from penetrating backup and replication streams. By continually scanning backup data, ransomware attacks are detected and automatically prevented from impacting the backup and recovery processes.

FreeNAS Cloud Backup is a software-based solution configured with the company’s latest software, version 14. The appliance protects a range of backup targets, protecting data on laptops, desktops, servers, mobile devices and more. The agentless backup solution manages data volumes with data deduplication and provides encryption with FIPS 140-2 support. The solution offers rapid data restoration that limits downtime and provides automatic file versioning and point-in-time restoration.
