Veeam Becoming Billion-Dollar Software Company

Claims 350,000 customers with 4,000 new ones per month.

Veeam Software AG exceeded $1 billion in annual bookings, joining a group of software companies to achieve this milestone.

On its journey to the billion-dollar mark, Veeam has also surpassed 350,000 customers, adding new customers at a rate of more than 4,000 each month, illustrating the first act in its evolution.

At VeeamON 2019 in Miami, FL, te company is unveiling how it will accelerate its leadership in Cloud Data Management and begin the next stage of its story.

Veeam created the VMware backup market and has dominated it as the leader for the last decade. This was Veeam’s Act I and I am delighted that we have surpassed the $1 billion mark; in 2013 I predicted we’d achieve this in less than six years and we have,” said Ratmir Timashev, co-founder and EVP sales and marketing. “However, the market is now changing. Backup is still critical, but customers are now building hybrid clouds with AWS, Azure, IBM and Google, and they need more than just backup. To succeed in this changing environment, Veeam has had to adapt. Veeam, with its 60,000+ channel and service provider partners and the broadest ecosystem of technology partners, including Cisco, HPE, NetApp, Nutanix and Pure Storage, is best positioned to dominate the new Cloud Data Management in our Act II. Our vision and strategy for the hybrid cloud will see us deliver the kind of success others can only dream of.

For more than a decade, Veeam has been provider of backup, recovery and replication solutions. Initially focused on server virtualization for VMware environments, in recent years, it has expanded on this core offering, delivering integration with multiple hypervisors, physical servers and endpoints, along with public and SaaS-based workloads, while partnering with cloud, storage, server, HCI and application vendors to provide a robust Cloud Data Management platform.

Company’s partner-centric strategy and ability to adapt to the market has been the cornerstone of its success and is the foundation for Act II. In January, the firm launched Veeam Availability Suite 9.5 Update 4, delivering new capabilities that provide easy cloud migration and cloud mobility, cloud-native backup, cost-effective data retention, and portable cloud-ready licensing, increased security and data governance, and solutions to make it easier for service providers to deliver its services to market.

The company also announced the Veeamprogram, to partner with enterprise storage and HCI vendors to provide customers with comprehensive secondary storage solutions that combine its software with storage and HCI infrastructure hardware and management stacks. Solutions have been announced with ExaGrid and Nutanix.

From day one, we have focused on partnerships to deliver customer value. Working with our storage and cloud partners, we are delivering choice, flexibility and value to customers of all sizes. The new with Veeam program epitomizes this approach, and this strategy will help us extend our leadership even further,” added Timashev.

Cloud Data Management is a market that will be worth more than $15 billion by 2020 (1).
