He joins Rubrik from VMware, where as SVP and GM, Americas he was responsible for strategic planning, business operations, go-to-market strategy, and management of business in Latin America, the United States and Canada.
“Brett has been the architect behind a number of the industry’s most successful sales organizations,” said Sinha. “His unparalleled expertise scaling world-class teams, ability to capitalize on changing market dynamics, dedication to partners, and customer-first mentality will be invaluable to Rubrik as we continue our global expansion.”
Shirk has more than 20 years of experience in the technology industry. Prior to VMware, he spent 14 years at Symantec and its spin-out Veritas Technologies, rising from a district manager in the Great Lakes region at Symantec, to EVP of WW sales for Veritas Technologies.
“Over the course of my career I’ve had the opportunity to scale a number of global sales organizations,” he said. “Rubrik has achieved in its first five years of business what most companies achieve in twice the time, if at all – a diverse and loyal customer base. In January, the company announced that it raised a $261 million series E round at a $3.3 billion valuation from new investor Bain Capital Ventures and existing investors Lightspeed Ventures, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures and IVP.
Rubrik also expanded its executive team in 2018 with several hires from technology companies, including: CFO Murray Demo (Atlassian), CIO Avon Puri (VMware), chief legal officer Peter McGoff (Box), chief people officer Jeff Vijungco (Adobe), and SVP of product and strategy Shay Mowlem (Splunk).
