It reduces the required amount of compute/network/hardware resources by up to 80%, while achieving the identical performance of much larger, more expensive storage solutions. TRU storage users can run up to 5x more applications on the same performance system, with integrated enterprise data protection and data retention.
Edge Computing use cases such as AI, autonomous self-driving cars and vehicles, cellular and wearable devices, and lifesaving medical devices, are all bound by limited resources and physical space and at the same time require HPC on the Edge. With the TRU storage solution on the Edge, customers can use their existing applications for these technologies without making any change to their current environment.
Managing and coordinating real-time performance of IoT devices poses a host of new challenges. With an increase in devices making up the IoT, cloud computing’s hub-and-spoke model of centralized storage and computation is unsustainable due to latency over distance. Distributed Edge Computing can solve this delay in situations that call for the collecting of vast amounts of information that need immediate processing. such as remote monitoring and smart sensor devices used in the medical field. This network of sensors, actuators and other mobile communication devices, referred to as the IoT for Medical Devices (IoT-MD), is poised to revolutionize the functioning of the healthcare industry.
However many Edge solutions lack the sophistication required for these demands. The performance, density and cost advantages of the TRU storage software-defined storage technology, combined with its easy-to-implement-and-operate nature, deployable on any virtual or physical appliance, effortlessly satisfies the Edge Computing requirements of tomorrow.
The company’s TRU storage solution allows up to 5X more applications to run on the same performance drives and provides 5X faster performance while saving processing time with minimal bandwidth usage. The firm operates identically in any storage environment with support for all storage protocols with zero changes to applications for ultimate ease of use. For example, a minimal hardware configuration with a few SSDs, 64GB DRAM and a few cores can provide 500,000 IO/s with low latency and over 10GB/s throughput.
“We are very excited to find that we succeeded in creating a solution that will change the Edge landscape and at the same time allow customers to receive the benefits of today’s drive innovation and cost reduction. In a world with so many connected devices in so many different locations, having all the data centralized is not the most efficient way of doing things for the IoT workloads and in AI environments,” said Gal Naor, co-founder and CEO, StorONE. “These types of Edge Computing scenarios need a solution that provides faster performance to operate and analyze data in proximity to its source, with very high density to overcome space and power limitations.“
The company offers enterprise features and patented technologies that extract the full compute resources of the drives and deliver them to applications. This gives users the best possible performance and density from their investment and can achieve as much as five times the performance at a fifth of the price, out of the same hardware that other vendors use. This delivers better results than similarly configured all-flash arrays, hyperconverged appliances, and cloud storage services, at a lower cost.
