Clumio, Stealthy Start-Up Preparing Public Cloud SaaS Data Platform
Co-founded by former executives of Nutanix, PernixData and VMware
By Jean Jacques Maleval | July 22, 2018 at 2:19 pmThe new start-up, Clumio, Inc., headquartered in Sunnyvale, CA, and now with 15 employees, is in stealth mode and we only know that its business will be to build a public cloud SaaS data platform “with Kubernetes and Docker containers, AWS and a serverless approach,” according to Philippe Nicolas.
Co-founder in October 2017 and CEO is Poojan Kumar, who was formerly VP engineering at Nutanix for a little more than one year after being for around five years CEO and co-founder (in 2012) of PernixData, that raised $62 million and then was acquired by Nutanix in September 2016 for only $9.7 million. Big names invest in PernixData like Mark Leslie, John Thompson and Paul Sallaberry. Leslie is also an investor in Clumio.
Before that, he was head of data product at VMware and co-founder in 2010 of Oracle Exadata.
Other Clumio’s co-founders are CTO Woon Ho Jung, and VP engineering Kaustubh Patil, both of them also coming from Nutanix, PernixData and VMware.
