Chris Cummings CMO, Datera

Prior experience includes CMO and SVP of strategy at Cleversafe and leadership roles at NetApp.

Datera, Inc. announced that technology industry veteran Chris Cummings has joined the company as CMO.

In his new role, he will drive Datera’s next phase of growth, leading all company marketing and related strategy development initiatives.

Cummings will report to Datera CEO and founder Marc Fleischmann.

Since exiting stealth mode in 2016, we have been on a rapid growth trajectory acquiring new customers and partners. As the company continues to evolve its core platform, build solutions and extend our value proposition, so too are we expanding our executive leadership team to scale for these opportunities,” said Marc Fleischmann, CEO. “Chris’ serial successes in moving emerging growth businesses to the next level makes him the right fit for Datera’s next chapter.”

Cummings comes to Datera with 20 years of experience as a go-to-market leader in enterprise software and hardware. His expertise spans all aspects of strategy and marketing including product and solutions management, development and marketing and brings a wealth of experience building alliances to drive joint solutions and revenue growth. His prior experience includes serving as CMO and SVP of strategy at Cleversafe, a cloud object software-define storage start-up, where he optimized the solutions strategy and go-to-market effort which let to acquisition by IBM’s Cloud Group for $1.3 billion. In addition, he served in a variety of leadership roles at NetApp, where he led the company’s multi-year, company-wide storage efficiency initiative and go-to-market efforts that generated 25% growth and was instrumental in bringing the company to the #2 share position. He also served as a lecturer in entrepreneurship and start-up immersion at Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
