This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on June 1, 2018 at 2:31 pmHighPoint Technologies, Inc. announced the SSD7110 hybrid NVMe RAID/SAS RAID controller, featuring NVMe boot capability.
Equipped with three M.2 NVMe ports and four SFF-8643 connectors, the SSD7110 can host up to 6TB of fast NVMe RAID storage for high-performance applications, and up to 16 SAS or SATA HDDs, and 224TB of storage capacity for archiving and backup purposes.
This approach to storage expansion makes the SD7110 suited for server and mass storage platforms that require redundant or high-speed boot volume support, with both hot and cool RAID storage capability, in an all-in-one solution.
NVMe booting solution
The SSD7110 can support a variety of NVMe-based boot configurations. Customers can configure up to three M.2 SSDs to act as individual drives (in single disk or JBOD mode), and setup each to act as a separate boot volume. In addition, customers can configure two types of bootable RAID arrays; RAID-0 for maximum performance and rapid boot-up, or redundant RAID-1 for enhanced data security.
Dedicated PCIe 3.0 x16 bandwidth delivers maximum NVMe performance
Unlike conventional NVMe solutions, the SSD7110 features dedicated PCIe 3.0 x16 bus bandwidth, which allows each SSD to interface directly with the platform’s CPU, unlocking the potential of NVMe storage. This performance-focused architecture delivers up to 32Gb/s per M.2 port, for fast M.2 SSDs, such as Samsung‘s 960 and 970 series.
Integrated 16-drive SAS/SATA RAID storage solution
In addition to the three M.2 NVMe ports, SSD7110 RAID controllers feature four SFF-8643 connectors, each of which can support up to four SAS/SATA Enterprise or RAID class HDDs, and up to 224TB of total storage capacity. Integrated SAS/SATA RAID technology allows the SSD7110 to support RAID-0, 1, 5, 6, 1/0, 50 and JBOD RAID configurations, in addition to non-RAID single disk mode.
NVMe and SAS/SATA RAID management
NVMe Manager features TRIM support, and S.M.A.R.T. monitoring with total Terabyte Written (TBW) tracking. S.M.A.R.T. monitoring allows to check the temperature, voltage and TBW of each NVMe SSD. The interface updates attribute data in real time, and can be be configured to notify you by email, in the event of an error condition or threshold warning. NVMe Manager can also analyze PCIe bandwidth available to the SSD7110 NVMe controller, which allows customers to select the slot capable of maximizing transfer speeds.
The SSD7110 is available from the company’s global E-tail and distribution channels. SSD7110 – 3x dedicated M.2 ports and 4x SFF-8643 SAS/SATA ports to PCIe 3.0 x16 RAID controller.
